About

I’m currently a politics reporter at WisPolitics.com, an online publication in Madison, Wis. I write about anything worth a mention in the turbulent world under and around the state Capitol dome, from special election chaos and the governor’s legislative priorities to the latest campaign finance revelations. I prioritize breaking news, but have a habit of cRiley profile piconducting deep dives into the activity of the state’s political heavyweights. So far, I’ve investigated the governor’s use of state planes, examined how University of Wisconsin System administration handled its restructuring process, looked behind the scenes on a bill seeking to curtail special elections and showed how the Republican Party gave a leg up to a chosen candidate for Assembly before the primary.

Before joining WisPolitics.com, I spent eight months at the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism, where I exposed how Wisconsin’s error-prone GPS monitoring system is failing offenders while the state looks the other way. During my time there I also examined how President Donald Trump’s policies are playing out for dairy farmers, who rely on immigrant labor to power one of the state’s largest industries.

I graduated in 2017 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I majored in journalism, Russian language and The Badger Herald, the campus’ premier independent student newspaper. I grew up amid the forests and lakes of northern Wisconsin, where I frequently return to get some needed headspace.
